Amid the creation of 19 new districts and three divisions in Rajasthan, a controversy has erupted over the establishment of Shahpura district.
People expressed strong opposition during the district inauguration event, resulting in clashes with the police who resorted to using batons.
The situation escalated, leaving 12 individuals injured. The discontent stems from the removal of certain areas, including Bhilwara, and their incorporation into Shahpura district.
During the district inauguration event at Government College in Shahpura, protesters demonstrated their disagreement with the proposed boundary changes that included merging Hurda and Gulabpura areas into Bhilwara.
Prior to the event, Shahpura Struggle Committee and several organizations staged peaceful protests outside the college premises.
The situation escalated as protesters attempted to breach the college walls, leading to police intervention and subsequent clashes.
Over 12 people were injured and referred to Bhilwara for medical treatment.
CM Ashok Gehlot participated in the virtual inauguration ceremony of the new districts from Birla Auditorium. Before the inauguration, he performed rituals and offered prayers.
