In Rajasthan, a large number of people are encountering significant difficulties in obtaining relief for their electricity bills in Inflation Relief Camps. This has resulted in widespread frustration and distress among the affected individuals.
Registration is not being done because people do not have connections in their own names.
Consequently, individuals are now required to submit applications to the Discom for a name change, which can take approximately 5 to 7 days to process.
Till now, more than 86 lakh registrations have been completed.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced on May 31 that domestic electricity consumers would get 100 units of electricity free.
Moreover, individuals consuming up to 200 units of electricity will have their surcharges exempted, and the initial 100 units of electricity will be provided free of charge.
This facility will not be accessible to residents of multi-storey buildings who have a single-point connection for their flats.
The individuals facing the most significant challenges are those whose parents have passed away, yet the electricity bill remains registered in their parents' names.
Additionally, this also encompasses individuals who have purchased a new house but continue to receive electricity bills in the name of the previous landlord.
