CM Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey has been detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the illegal sand mining case. The ED's screws on Bhupinder Singh Honey are also getting tightened. Now Bhupinder Singh Honey will have to remain in the ED custody for questioning till February 11.
Let us tell you that a court in Jalandhar on Friday sent Bhupinder Singh alias Honey, the nephew of the CM, to the custody of the ED. The ED has revealed that Honey used to earn money by using his political reach. On behalf of the ED, it has been said that Bhupinder Singh Honey had earned crores of rupees through the game of illegal mining and transfer of government officials.
The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Bhupinder Singh Honey, a relative of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, in a case related to alleged illegal sand mining in the border state. He was questioned for hours at the agency's Jalandhar office before his arrest under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). According to the officials, the property found with Bhupinder Singh during the raid was made through illegal mining and transfer of government officials.
According to the reports, it is being told that Honey had said in his statement during the search that Rs 4.09 crore found in Ludhiana, Rs 1.99 crore was found at Sandeep Kumar's whereabouts and Rs 3.89 crore found in Mohali are related to him only. Honey also confessed that he made this money by clearing the files related to mining and getting the officers transferred. The ED has feared that Bhupinder Singh Honey had earned money through transfer-posting and illegal sand mining of about Rs 3 crore.
