Rich Diet to Sidhu: Patiala court on Tuesday directed the jail authorities to provide a rich diet on behalf of doctors to former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu is lodged in the Central Jail of Patiala after his conviction in the 1988 road rage death case.
Earlier on Monday, amidst heavy security, the board of doctors conducted a medical test of Sidhu at the Government Rajindra Hospital and then presented a diet chart based on the medical report.
The board of doctors has recommended a high fibre, low carbohydrate and low-fat diet. The diet chart included breakfast, lunch, evening tea, dinner and bedtime diet schedule.
The report of the Board of Doctors is to be considered for providing dietary supplements.
Patiala Central Jail Superintendent Manjit Singh Tiwana said that I have yet to follow the orders of the court. Eating from home will not be allowed, but the diet will be as per the order.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, 58, is suffering from embolism and liver disease. In the year 2015, he also got treatment for Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis at a hospital in Delhi. DVT is caused by a blood clot forming in a vein, which obstructs blood flow.
Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu was sent to Patiala Central Jail on May 20 after he surrendered before a local court.
In the 1988 road rage case, the Supreme Court had sentenced him to one year's rigorous imprisonment. A 65-year-old man named Gurnam Singh was killed in this incident.
