The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has suffered a major setback after one of their MLAs, who had pledged to eradicate corruption, was arrested in a corruption case.
The MLA in question is Amit Rattan Kotfatta from Bathinda Rural, and he has been arrested by Punjab's Vigilance Bureau.
On February 16, the vigilance team had arrested the MLA's private PA Risham Garg while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh. However, then MLA Amit Rattan Kotfatta had said that he had no relation with Risham Garg.
Later, an audio recording surfaced where the MLA was heard talking about bribe-taking after which he was arrested.
The vigilance team has reportedly taken the arrested AAP MLA to Bathinda for further investigation. It is said that the MLA and his private PA, who was also arrested earlier, will be interrogated face-to-face at the vigilance office.
