The BJP has decided who will be the next Chief Minister of Odisha. Mohan Charan Majhi has been appointed as the next Chief Minister of Odisha. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav were appointed as observers for the selection of the CM.
Both central ministers travelled to Odisha for the selection process. A meeting of the legislators was held, where the Defence Minister announced that Mohan Majhi had been selected.
Along with CM Majhi, two Deputy Chief Ministers have also been appointed. Pravati Parida and KV Singh will serve as the two Deputy Chief Ministers of Odisha.
CM Mohan Majhi won the Keonjhar seat this year, defeating the BJD candidate by a margin of 11,577 votes.
Mohan Charan Majhi has been elected as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha. He will lead the state's first BJP government. Majhi was elected as an MLA from the Keonjhar constituency in the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections. He also represented Keonjhar twice between 2000 and 2009.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that KV Singh was the first to raise his hand and suggest Mohan Majhi's name for the position of Chief Minister.
He mentioned that all the other legislators welcomed the decision by applauding. The Defence Minister explained that, therefore, Mohan Majhi was unanimously chosen as the leader of the Odisha BJP Legislative Party.
In Odisha, the BJP won 78 out of 147 seats, securing a majority on its own. Initially, there were speculations that Dharmendra Pradhan, a party MP from Odisha, might be appointed as the BJP CM.
However, he was appointed as the Union Education Minister. Following this, all eyes were on Odisha, awaiting the selection of the next Chief Minister.
In the meantime, the name of Suresh Pujari, an MLA from the Brajarajnagar area, also surfaced, and he even came to Delhi.
