Avatar Saini, former Country Head of the renowned tech company Intel India, met with a tragic accident in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai Township while riding a bicycle.

According to the police, the accident occurred on Thursday morning around 5:50 AM when Saini (68) was cycling along Palm Beach Road in the Nerul area with fellow cyclists.

As per the PTI report, a police officer mentioned that a speeding cab collided with Saini's bicycle from behind. The driver attempted to flee the scene, but the bicycle frame got stuck under the cab's front wheels.

Saini sustained injuries in the accident, and fellow cyclists rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead.

FIR Filed Against the Cab Driver

Hailing from Chennai, Saini is credited with working on Intel 386 and 486 microprocessors. He also played a leadership role in designing the company's Pentium processors.

The police have filed an FIR against the cab driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304-A (causing death by negligence).

Saini had been living alone since his wife passed away nearly three years ago. He has two children, a son and a daughter, both residing in the United States. According to reports, Saini was planning to visit his children in the US next month.

Avatar Saini served as the Vice President at Intel from 1982 to 2004. He played a pivotal role in designing several renowned processors during his tenure.

Apart from being the Country Head for Intel, he also served as the Director for Intel South Asia.

Intel India President Expressed Grief Over Loss

Gokul V. Subramaniam, President of Intel India, expressed sorrow over the death of Avatar Saini. In a social media post, he described Saini as an invaluable innovator and stated that he would always be remembered as a valuable mentor at Intel.
