Heatwave Alert: In response to the prevailing heatwave conditions in the state, the Jharkhand government has made an official announcement to temporarily close all schools for a period of three days, starting from June 12.
The order, issued by K Ravi Kumar, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, applies to all categories of schools, including government, non-government aided/non-aided (including minority), and private schools operating within the state.
The decision to close schools is a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students in light of the extreme heat and heatwave conditions experienced in the region.
The closure will be in effect until June 14, with schools scheduled to resume their regular operations thereafter.
The weather department has forecasted that the prevailing weather conditions, including the ongoing heatwave, are expected to persist for at least the next five days in Jharkhand.
Certain regions of the state have been issued heatwave alerts that will remain in effect until June 15th. Jharkhand is currently experiencing a relentless heatwave, with the maximum temperatures soaring between 38-44 degrees Celsius across the entire state.
"There is a chance of light rain, particularly in the eastern parts of the state. However, it is unlikely to significantly lower the temperature," stated Ranchi Meteorological Centre in-charge Abhishek Anand.
Stay hydrated: To avoid dehydration, make sure to stay adequately hydrated by drinking ample amounts of water and fluids throughout the day.
Seek shade or stay indoors: Limit your exposure to direct sunlight and find shaded areas or air-conditioned spaces to stay cool.
Dress appropriately: Wear loose, lightweight, and breathable clothing to allow better air circulation and to keep your body temperature down.
Use fans or air conditioners: Utilize fans or air conditioning to create a cool and comfortable environment indoors.
Take cool showers or baths: Lower your body temperature and rejuvenate yourself by indulging in refreshing cool showers or baths.
Eat light and cool meals: Opt for light, refreshing meals that include fruits, vegetables, and hydrating foods.
