Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Haryana Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala, in a statement, has expressed his readiness to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections without any hesitation.

He mentioned that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offers him a ticket, he is willing to participate in the elections.

Ranjit Chautala is currently serving as an independent MLA from the Rania constituency in Sirsa district and is the son of former Prime Minister Devi Lal.

Chautala emphasized that in politics, anything is possible. He recalled that during the 2019 state assembly elections when he won the Rania seat, no one had anticipated that the BJP would not achieve a majority on its own, necessitating support to form a government.

He noted that after the BJP fell short of a majority, he was among the first MLAs to extend unconditional support to them.

It remains to be seen how this decision may impact the political landscape in Haryana as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections draw nearer.

Chautala Won't Contest Lok Sabha Elections Independently

It's noteworthy that the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and independent legislators had extended their support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019, leading to the formation of the government in Haryana.

Chautala stated, "When I won the election, I didn't know that I would have to support the BJP just two hours later. Today, I am in sync with the BJP, and they also have a lot of confidence in me."

He talked about the possibility of contesting Lok Sabha elections, saying, "If the BJP presents an offer, I can consider it."

However, he has ruled out the possibility of running as an independent candidate for Lok Sabha elections. Chautala clarified, "I want to make it clear that I can contest as an independent candidate in the Assembly elections, but in the Lok Sabha elections, there will be a direct face-off between the Congress and BJP in Haryana."

Not only this, a Haryana minister also stated that if he contests general elections, making a stand in Hisar would be his priority.

He expressed that the Chautala family has received a lot of love and affection in Haryana, and whenever family members have entered elections, people have supported them.

The BJP and JJP, led by Ajay Chautala, have not made any commitment regarding their participation in future electoral alliances for both Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.

Chautala Could Be BJP's Choice

It should be noted that if both parties, the BJP and JJP, contest elections separately, Ranjit Chautala might become the preferred candidate of the BJP for one of Haryana's 10 Lok Sabha seats. I

Of the total of 90 members in the Haryana Legislative Assembly, the BJP has 41 MLAs, while the Congress has 30 and the JJP has 10.

Seven out of the six independent MLAs support the BJP-led government. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured victory on all 10 parliamentary seats in Haryana.
