A Delhi-based YouTuber has been arrested for duping a businessman of Rs 80 lakh by threatening to implicate him in a rape case.
On Tuesday (December 6, 2022), police told news agency PTI that she was arrested from the national capital on Monday (November 5, 2022) and sent to four-day police remand after being produced in the duty magistrate's court.
According to a police official, the accused has been identified as 22-year-old Namra Qadir. Currently, she has over six lakh subscribers on the video-sharing platform YouTube.
Qadir's husband and co-accused Manish alias Virat Beniwal is absconding, while the police team is conducting raids to nab him.
Gurugram police said Dinesh Yadav (21), a resident of Badshahpur in Gurugram, had lodged a complaint in August, but the couple filed a petition in the court for interim bail.
After the court rejected this petition, an FIR was registered against them at the Sector-50 police station on November 26. Qadir and her husband Beniwal are residents of Shalimar Bagh in Delhi.
According to Gurugram's Sector-50 police station in-charge Inspector Rajesh Kumar, “Qadir has confessed to her crime and we have taken her on police remand to recover the money and other items taken from the victim under alleged duress. Her husband and co-accused Manish alias Virat Beniwal will be arrested soon."
