Gopal Rai, a senior member of the Delhi government, made a big revelation lately regarding the rigorous banning of firecrackers in the national capital.

According to his statement, a total ban on the manufacture, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers has been imposed, this diwali season.

This decision is critical in combating Delhi's chronic air pollution problem, particularly during the Diwali celebration.

In addition to traditional brick-and-mortar sales, Rai stated that internet sales and delivery of firecrackers within the city will be prohibited.

This two-pronged effort is intended to close any potential gaps that may allow these dangerous items to reach consumers. The internet sales ban will stay in effect for the duration of the stipulated period.

Rai said that an action plan is being developed to ensure the successful application of these limits.

Close engagement with key stakeholders such as the Delhi Police, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), and the Revenue Department is required for this strategy to be implemented.

The government hopes to enforce the prohibition and hold violators accountable by collaborating with these organisations.

Rai's announcement is not a new issue; the Delhi government has prohibited the use of firecrackers during Diwali in 2021.

The catastrophic levels of pollution witnessed in the city during the festival in recent years prompted this move.

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, outlined the need for this restriction last year, aligning it with the government's commitment to protecting the health and well-being of Delhi people.

Rai's recent statement demonstrates the government's unwavering commitment to reducing pollution and protecting public health in Delhi.

The total ban on firecrackers, which includes manufacturing, storage, sale, and use, as well as the prohibition of internet sales, is a proactive approach to tackling the serious issue of air quality in the national capital.
