Kidambi Srikanth lost 12-21, 16-21 in the quarter-finals to world No.1 Kento Momota of Japan to end the Indian challenge in Birmingham.

Kidambi was knocked out by the Ace shuttler of the world Momota in All England Championships.

This eight straight loss which was faced by the Srikanth against the No. 1 player Momota.  Momota defeated Srikanth five times on the BWF Tour. From the record books of All England, this was the fourth meeting between Srikanth and Momota and the Indian has lost them all.

Kidambi defeated by Momota 21-12, 15-21, 21-15 in the India Open on March 26, 2015. Since then there were eight matches between the two. Momota succeeded in winning all.

After the defeat of Indian shuttler, Kidambi Srikanth in the men's singles quarterfinals of the All England Badminton Championship, the Indian challenger's journey was ended in the tournament.

Along with this, India's dream of winning a title from the last 18 years was broken before the end of the tournament. As long with the Srikanth, the journey of the one more Indian Shuttler was ended before the end of the tournament.

Prior in the day Saina Nehwal also lost her 13th straight match against the world No.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan 15-21, 19-21 and dismissed out of from the tournament from the quarter-finals.

Srikanth did not win any title in the last season. However, in 2017 he won four important titles. They also reached the ranking of No. 2 in November 2017.

In the tournament, last year's semi-finalist PV Sindhu had to face defeat in the first round this time. B Sai Praneeth lost in men's singles in the second round.

All Indian pairs were already out in the doubles competitions. Momota kept on building his lead while all Srikanth could do was getting a few points here and there.

Srikanth did begin to fight back later in the second game though forcing mistakes out of Momota.

With Momota hitting the 17-point mark, Srikanth went on a run of four straight points to make it 12-17. Momota, however, fought right back and took the match away.
