Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) on Monday announced the ODI and T20 squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies, delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The team has been approved by Sri Lankan Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, Suranga Lakmal has been included in the team as a replacement for fast bowler Lahiru Kumara. On 23 February, the Sri Lankan team will arrive in West Indies. The team will play 3-match T20, 3-match ODI and 2-match Test series on this tour. At the same time, the T20 series will take place at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua from 3 March to 2 April.
Chaminda Vaas resigned as fast bowling coach:
On the other hand, former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas resigned as fast bowling coach on Monday within days of his appointment. At the same time, he is the most successful Sri Lankan fast bowler, taking 355 wickets in 111 Tests and 400 wickets in 322 ODIs.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket issued an official statement saying, “It is particularly disheartening to note that in an economic climate such as the one facing the entire globe right now, Mr. Vaas has made this sudden and irresponsible move on the eve of the team’s departure, based on personal monetary gain. It is extremely disheartening that a legend such as Chaminda Vaas has resorted to holding the administration, the cricketers, and indeed the game at ransom, by handing in his resignation at the eleventh hour, citing the administration’s refusal to accede to an unjustifiable demand for an increased (USD) remuneration.”
Sri Lankan limited-over team:
Dimuth Karunaratne (ODI captain), Dasun Shanaka (T20 captain), Danushka Gunathilaka. Pathum Nissanka, Ashen Bandara, Oshada Fernando. Dinesh Chandima, Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwella, Thisara Perera, Kamindu Mendis. Wanindu Hasaranga, Ramesh Mendis, Nuwan Pradeep, Asitha Fernando. Dushmantha Chameera, Akila Dananajaya, Lakshan Sandakan. Dilshan Madushanka and Suranga Lakmal.
