India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha recovered from COVID-19 on Monday and is set to join the 20-man squad for England tour. He has returned negative tests twice during his quarantine period. He will join the Indian team on 24 May in Mumbai after being with the family for a few days.
Saha, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 14th season of the IPL, tested positive for COVID-19 on 4 May. Later, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakraborty, and CSK's Batting Coach Michael Hussey tested positive for COVID-19. After which the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian Premier League governing council had decided to suspend the IPL. All the players returned to their respective countries.
Saha has been named in Team India's squad for the World Test Championship final and the subsequent Test series against England. Team India will take on New Zealand in the WTC final from June 18 in Southampton. The five-Test series against England scheduled to take place in August. However, he will have to prove his fitness before May 25 to join the bio-bubble of the Indian team.
Saha named in the team as wicketkeeper along with Rishabh Pant in the World Test Championship. After recovering from Coronavirus, Saha will have to pass a fitness test, only then he will be included in the team.
