The fifteenth season of the Indian Premium League (IPL) witnessed a new champion for the first time since its beginning. Gujarat TItans though with a poor start in the Finale managed to finish the season easily and grabbed the golden-plated IPL trophy in its very first attempt.
However, Hardik Pandya and Gujarat Titans disapproved of all the speculations and finished their journey like a champion. Gujarat, spearheaded by Hardik seemed invincible in the tournament and didn't fall prey to any lacunae.
Hardik - New Captain Cool for India?
The core reason behind such a giant journey for Gujarat Titans was a balanced squad. The team instead of filling the squad with well-established stars chose multi performers who would turn tables at any given point of time. This made the team look much more balanced and almost unbeatable.
KL Rahul- Though Lucknow Super Giants made to the playoffs in its very first season and KL Rahul still could not be a better option to be held with the responsibility of the Indian skipper. Rahul though is a fantastic batsman but lacks captaincy skills. Rahul, while being in charge of the Punjab Kings, failed to yield a good finish to the team, despite having a decent squad. Rahul thus should be given space to flourish his career as a batsman.
Rishabh Pant- Rishabh fell prey to poor performance since he took charge of the Delhi Capitals, also he lacks the maturity required for such an important designation. Rishhabh’s act of calling over the team over the Umpire’s decision made him distant from considering him as a forthcoming Indian Skipper.
Ravindra Jadeja- Ravindra Jadeja is in the list as he is senior and holds a close connection with MSD, the Former Skipper of the Indian Cricket Team. Jadeja, do not own s any quality to that of a captain. Before paving the path to success, one need to build a team that would last in all situation, Sir Jadeja, however, lacks such leadership skills.
Shreyas Iyer- Shreyas Iyer might have become the talk of the town had KKR managed to even reach the playoffs. KKR going through a hard times since the team bid farewell to its former captain Gautam Gambhir. Iyer’s team looked both balanced and in form in the beginning but fell drastically later. Shreyas, thus, would not be in eyes of selectors for the moment.
Sanju Samson- Over the time, Sanju has proved his leadership skills. Sanju is much on the field and provides equal opportunities tothe young talent sitting in the bench. Sanju despite being a good captain and also a wicketkeeper can’t lead Team India for the moment as he has been struggling with his form. RR’s captain before leading the Indian Cricket team needs to first secure his position in the Indian Cricket Team, for which he need to perform continuously.
