WI Vs IND 1st Test Match: India has made a good start to their new cycle of the World Test Championship. Rohit Sharma and his men have dominated the Test match proceedings in Dominica.
The hosts, West Indies chose to bat first in this game and that too on a turning surface. But they managed just 150 runs in their 1st innings as the Indian bowlers rattled the whole Windies team inside 64.3 overs.
When the turn of the Indian batters came, the new opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma made sure they would pile more misery on the home side team.
Apart from Shubman Gill’s low score, Hit Man scored his 10th Test ton and Jaiswal became the 17th batter from Team India to smash a hundred in his maiden Test match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has translated his good form of the domestic season and the IPL into the red ball format. Jaiswal has the talent and temperament to be the next superstar of the Indian Cricket Team in all three forms of the game.
The youngster is currently unbeaten on 143 runs and here are the records created by this opener:
Rohit and Jaiswal shared an opening stand of 229 runs for the first wicket. This was the first instance where the Indian openers went past the 1st innings total scored by the opposition team without losing any wickets.
The new Indian openers also broke the old 21-year-old record and their 229 runs stand for the first wicket is now the new highest opening partnership against The West Indies in Test match cricket.
Rohit and Jaiswal also broke the 44-year-old record held by Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Sharma. The 229 runs for the first wicket is also the highest partnership outside Asia. Chetan and Sunil held this record when they added 213 runs for the opening wicket.
Jaiswal’s unbeaten 143 runs is also the highest score by the debutant on an overseas Test venue. Sourav Ganguly’s 131 runs at Lords was the previous highest score.
After Prithvi Shaw and skipper Rohit Sharma, Yashhasvi is the 3rd Indian batter to smash a ton against The West Indies in his debut red ball game.

India has scored 312 runs for the loss of just two wickets after the second day’s play. Rohit scored brilliant 103 runs.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal will resume his innings from 143 alongside Virat Kohli, who is also not out on 36 runs.
