Team India’s Tour of Sri Lanka Postponed due to Coronavirus

Due to Coronavirus, Team India's tour of Sri Lanka in June-July has been postponed. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board issued a statement giving this information.

Due to Coronavirus, Team India's tour of Sri Lanka in June-July has been postponed. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board issued a statement giving this information.  Cricket Sri Lanka issued a statement saying, "The Indian cricket team's tour in June-July will no longer be as per the schedule. We have been told by the BCCI that it is not safe to tour right now because of Corona. So the Indian team will not be able to play ODIs and T20 series in Sri Lanka. However, the tour has not been canceled."

Both boards are ready to play against each other according to the future tour program. An optional window will be searched for this. Since 13 March, International cricket has been on break due to Corona. International cricket will return from a 3-match Test series starting 8 July between England and West Indies.

Only after approval from the government, team India will go to Sri Lanka tour:

According to media reports, the Indian cricket team could tour Sri Lanka in August if the government's permission is granted. BCCI gave this information to Sri Lanka Cricket Board on e-mail. In an e-mail, the Indian board wrote – We are bound by the FTP and the concerned board, but in the current situation before taking any decision on any kind of visit, we have to take care of the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Ministry of Health.

Without training, series not possible: BCCI

The series was already expected to be canceled because Indian players have not started training yet. A BCCI official told the news agency that it would take four to six weeks for the players to regain match fitness even after the start of practice. At present, foreign travel is also banned. In such a situation, it was not possible to visit Sri Lanka in June-July.

Sri Lanka team visited India in January:

Sri Lanka visited India in January this year. There was a 3 match T20 series between the two countries. India won the series 2–0. While, the first match was canceled due to rain. On the other hand, Team India won the second T20 by 78 runs and the third match by 7 wickets.
