The five-time champion side Mumbai Indians will take the four-time title winner Chennai Super Kings at their home ground tomorrow.
MI has to bounce back in their second game of the TATA IPL 2023 season. Rohit and Co had lost against RCB by eight wickets and yet again their campaign has got off to a losing start.
The last edition of this cash-rich league tournament wasn’t an ideal one for the MI side. They finished last on the points table of the TATA IPL 2022 season.
In their first match of this edition, Tilak Varma was the only batter who did a wonderful job for the Mumbai Indians team. His fighting knocks allowed MI to score a respectable total.
But the other batters like Rohit, Ishan, Suryakumar and Cameron Green need to fire in this match which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, the fortress of Mumbai Indians.
The Blues need a solid start from their openers Rohit and Ishan. While the middle-order needs to come good as well. SKY needs to show why he is the number one ranked batter in the shortest format.
Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) has scored three centuries in the T20 International format while playing for India.
Now is the time for him to use that momentum on his home ground that will certainly allow the Mumbai Indians side to open their account in the TATA IPL 2023 season. MI tam is missing Bumrah and Pollard.
Still, the bowlers need to take a good amount of responsibility. They failed to pick wickets at the start of the powerplay overs against RCB on Sunday.
Archer is the leader of MI’s pace bowling department in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and he should deliver for them.
MI can add Jason Behrendorff as their fourth overseas player. Jason can replace an Indian bowler in their playing XI.
Ishan Kishan(wk), Rohit Sharma(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Camron Green, Hrithik Shokeen, Jofra Archer, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla and Arshad Khan/Jason Behrendorff.
The four-time champion side, the Yellow Army held their nerve to win their second match of the TATA IPL 2023 season against the Lucknow Super Giants side.
Chennai Super Kings also have their own issues to deal with despite a win of 12 runs at their home ground on Monday. The Yellow Army is a good team on paper.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is their current orange cap holder. Rutu has smashed two back-to-back half-centuries in this TATA IPL 2023 edition so far. The CSK franchise would want him to continue with that good form.
He also had a good domestic season as well and he can use that experience and give a perfect start to his franchise side.
Rayudu, Dhoni and Moeen Ali are also in good nick. But their most expensive player Ben Stokes hasn’t been in good form. Stokesy isn’t bowling as well.
But the CSK management will give him some more time to regain his form and full fitness before they decide to drop him.
CSK should use Shivam Dube as their impact player if needed and they shouldn’t play him in their actual lineup.
Dube can be dropped and instead of him, CSK should play a pure fast bowler. The fast bowling has been a concern for them in the two matches played so far.
Dube can be replaced by Simarjeet Singh in their playing XI. But still, their fast bowlers need to bowl some better lines and lengths.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(c and wk), Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana/Mitchell Santer, Simarjeet Singh, RS Hangargekar and Tushar Deshpande.
The two mighty teams, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are part of the Indian Premier League since the inception season of the IPL 2008 edition. Here is the list of encounters between the two giants of this cash-rich league tournament –
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is a batting friendly one. The batters can clear the short boundaries with ease and the outfield is also a quick one this time. The 12th match promises to be a high-scoring affair.
