Sri Lanka’s Players Still Terrified To Play In Pakistan

The main players of the Sri Lankan cricket team have refused to visit Pakistan for the series to be played in late September. The players have decided not to go on this tour due to security reasons. The players who refused to go on tour included T20 captain Lasith Malinga and ODI captain Dimuth Karunaratne.

This move of Sri Lankan players is due to the terrorist attack on the team in the 2009 tour of Pakistan. Even 10 years have passed since that incident, but even today the players of Sri Lankan team (Sri Lanka Team) are afraid to play in Pakistan. In March 2009, several players, including the then captain Mahela Jayawardene, were injured in this attack on the team bus.

That dreadful incident of 2009

The Sri Lankan cricket team's bus was attacked in Lahore, Pakistan on 3 January 2009. The Sri Lankan team, playing a Test series in Pakistan, was going from the hotel to Gaddafi Stadium for the game on the third day of the second match, when the terrorists started firing bullets on the bus. 12 masked terrorists fired first at the team, then fired rockets and then attacked with a hound grenade.
