Sourav Ganguly takes over as President of BCCI

Former India Captain Sourav Ganguly has taken over as the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sourav took charge as 39th BCCI president on Wednesday.

Former Captain of Team India Sourav Ganguly has taken over as the chairman of the Board of Control for  Cricket in India (BCCI).  On the official Twitter account of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Ganguly was announced to be the Board President. Sharing a photo of Ganguly assuming the responsibility of the post, Sourav Ganguly was officially elected BCCI President. Sourav's term as BCCI President will be 9 months. The term of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) constituted by the Supreme Court came to an end as soon as Ganguly took over as the Chairman.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly filed nomination for the post of the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Since no one else had filed nomination for this post, he was declared elected unopposed for this post.

Jayesh Shah, who has nine years of experience as a secretary in Sourav Ganguly's team, named Mahesh Verma of Uttarakhand for the post of vice-president.  Jayesh George from Kerala is named as joint secretary while Arun Dhumal is the treasurer. Significantly, Jai Shah is the son of Union Minister Amit Shah while Arun Dhumal is the brother of former BCCI President and current Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

After filling the nomination for the post of President,  Ganguly had told about his priority. He had said, "It would be his priority to improve the bad conditions and improve the condition of the first-class cricketers. He had said that for me the priority would be to provide better facilities to first-class cricket players. At the same time, all things will remain in place. "
