The England cricket team has suffered a major setback just before the third test match against South Africa. England's fast bowler James Anderson has been ruled out of the entire series against South Africa. James Anderson is suffering from a rib injury due to which he will not play two more Test matches of this series.

Anderson suffered the injury on the last day of the second Test in Cape Town. The England team management felt that Anderson's injury was minor. His MRI was done on Wednesday after which it was decided that Anderson is no longer fit to play in the series. The 37-year-old Anderson returned to the England team after being out for four months due to a calf injury. Anderson is England's most successful bowler. He has taken 584 wickets in 151 Tests at an average of 26.83. Anderson has 269 wickets in 194 International ODIs, and 18 wickets in 19 International T20 matches.

The third Test match between South Africa and England will begin on January 16 in Port Elizabeth. South Africa won the first Test match, while England made a strong comeback in the second match to tie the series 1–1. Craig Overton, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who missed the second Test, are also expected to be available for the third Test.
