In the first quarter, both teams gave each other a tough fight, but no goals were scored. However, Spain took the lead in the second quarter when Marc Miralles scored in the 18th minute.
Spain's joy was short-lived, as Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh equalized with a goal for India. By the end of the second quarter, the score was tied 1-1.
Team India appeared very aggressive during the third quarter. Early in the quarter, India scored a goal as Harmanpreet Singh capitalized on a penalty corner in the 33rd minute.

The Indian team previously won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Historically, India had won back-to-back medals in hockey at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics.
Since then, India had not won consecutive medals in hockey. However, India has now repeated this historic achievement.
India has now secured a total of four medals in these Olympics, all of which are bronze.
