With Asia Cup 2021 set to be officially postponed, it is now emerging that the tournament will take place in consecutive years — 2022 and 2023. Pakistan may host the 2022 edition of the tournament, with Sri Lanka hosting in 2023. But the biggest question is whether Team India will go to Pakistan for the tournament. Team India has not visited Pakistan since 2008. Both countries have not played any bilateral series since then.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani had confirmed that the Asia Cup was likely to be postponed if India managed to qualify for the World Test Championship final. The tournament has not taken place after 2018. The tournament to be held in 2020 had to be postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, Team India has won the last two editions of the tournament.

ACC to soon make an official announcement about tournament cancellation:

Meanwhile, the cancellation of the Asia Cup will also impact Team India as the team scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in July for three-match ODI and T20 series. The Asian Cricket Council headed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah will soon make a formal announcement regarding the cancellation of the tournament. Now, the tournament might only find a slot after ICC ODI Worldcup in 2023 due to teams' FTPs for the next two years.

Sri Lankan team in Bangladesh for ODI series:

Ashley de Silva further said that the Asian Cricket Council will soon make an official announcement about this. In South Asia, the cases of COVID-19 have increased rapidly in the last few days. In view of this, many countries have also banned flights. Sri Lanka on Wednesday also banned travelers coming from other countries for 10 days. However, Sri Lanka's team is currently on a tour of Bangladesh for three-match ODI series.
