PAK Vs ENG T20 World Cup: England became the champions of the ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday i.e. November 13. England won this trophy for the second time by defeating Pakistan by five wickets.
Ben Stokes scored an unbeaten half-century after Sam Curran's brilliant performance gave the team victory. The bowlers restricted Pakistan to a low of 137 runs.
England has now become the first team to hold the 50-over World Cup and T20 World Cup titles simultaneously. 12 years ago, Paul Collingwood's team defeated Australia to win the first ICC title for England in 2010.
Pakistan needed a great bowling performance to stay in the match. They did so to some extent, but the goal was very small.
In the very first over, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled England's semi-final star Alex Hales with a score of one. Captain Jos Buttler opened fire with the bat and England.
Phil Salt hits two fours, but he was dismissed by Haris Rauf. He gave a simple catch to Iftikhar at mid-wicket. Stokes and Brooke scored a total of 80 runs. But Shadab Khan dismissed Brooke for 20 in his last over and England was on 84/4.
A major upset happened when Pakistan's leading fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was injured after bowling the first ball of the 16th over and had to walk off the field.
To end the over, part-time off-spinner Iftikhar was given the ball and he almost got Ben Stokes out, but Babar Azam could not reach the ball at long off.
Stokes hit a four and a six off the last two balls and brought the equation down to the need of 28 runs off 24 balls. England won this match in 19 overs. Sam Curran became Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
