Former England cricketer Monty Panesar on Sunday decided to pull out of Pakistan's Kashmir Premier League (KPL) following threats from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Prior to him, former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs had also withdrawn his name from the league after BCCI's warning.

The PCB is organizing the Kashmir Premier League and allegations are being made on their behalf that the BCCI is pressurizing the players to not take part in this league. At the same time, the Indian Cricket Board says that they are doing everything according to the rules. A few days ago, former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs, who is expected to play in the league, said on Twitter that he was "threatened that he would not be allowed to enter India for "any cricket-related work" if he participates in the tournament.

PCB issued a statement in this regard:

Monty Panesar had earlier decided to play in the Kashmir Premier League, but has now withdrawn his name. He said, "I had the opportunity to play in the 'KPL' and I thought I could play again. However, the BCCI is telling players who will play in the 'Kashmir Premier League' might face consequences. As I am just starting my career in sports media I want to work in India. Therefore I thought it would be better to not play in the 'Kashmir Premier League'. I don't want come between cricket and politics."

After that, the PCB also issued a statement, saying: "The PCB believes the BCCI has once again breached international norms. The spirit of the gentleman's game by interfering in internal affairs of the ICC Members."
