Marnus Labuschagne Capable of Becoming Next Test Captain for Australian Team: Ricky Ponting

Australian Batsman Marnus Labuschagne scored the most runs in Test cricket last year. Once again, on the very first day of the third Test match against New Zealand, Labuschagne kept his rhythm of scoring runs by hitting a brilliant century. Seeing the amazing batting of Labuschagne's in Test, former team captain Ricky Ponting said that he can be made the next Test captain of Australia cricket team.

After Labuschagne's century at Sydney, Ponting said that he has not only brought depth in Australian batting but has also given selectors an option as Test captain. Now the selectors can think of making him captain after Tim Paine's retirement from the Test. He said of Paine that in the last test match, he played a very good innings in Melbourne. Travis Head is the vice-captain of the team and over the last one-and-a-half years, Marnus Labuschagne has established himself in the team with his performance. He can prove to be the perfect selection as the team's next Test captain.

Ponting said that I would like to give Paine another year as a captain. He is now 35 years old, but he is quite young for cricket. Paine has missed a lot due to an injury. But now he is fully fit like any player in the team. Everyone knows what a great wicketkeeper he is, if he starts scoring runs and participates in the team's victory, then I will definitely give him at least one year.
