It’s too Early to Comment on Four-Day Tests: Sourav Ganguly

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said on Monday that it would be too early to comment on the International Cricket Council's proposal to have the World Test Championship matches as a four-day Test from 2023. On the four-day Test, when Ganguly was asked about this, he said, "First we have to see the proposal and after that we will see. It is too early to say anything. Cannot comment without thinking."

The ICC Cricket Committee will hold a formal discussion on changing the Test matches from five days to four days in the 2023 to 2031 season. Several issues may play a role in the need for four-day matches, including the ICC's desire to hold more global competitions and the BCCI's demand for more bilateral matches this season.

Apart from this, the T20 League is being circulated around the world and the cost of hosting the five-day match is also included. The four-day test is not a new option. England and Ireland played a four-day Test earlier this year. Earlier in 2017, South Africa and Zimbabwe played a similar match. Ganguly also did not provide any information on the formation of the Cricket Advisory Committee to appoint the national selectors.
