Irfan Pathan Expressed Anger over JNU Incident

On Sunday, some masked mobs entered the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus and attacked the students during a student union demonstration there. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has expressed anger on this incident happened at JNU in Delhi. Armed masked goons entered the campus and created a ruckus in the campus for about four hours. Unknown masked goons vandalized several hostels including Sabarmati Hostel and tea point. Irfan has condemned the entire case and said that such incidents are going to tarnish the image of the country.

Irfan wrote on Twitter, 'What happened in JNU yesterday is not a regular incident. Students being attacked by armed mob inside University campus, in hostels, is as broken as it can get. This isn't helping our country's image.' On Sunday evening, 18 JNU students (including JNUSU President Aishi Ghosh) were admitted to the Trauma Center in AIIMS after being injured. Masked people entered the JNU campus and beat students and professors with sticks and rods. Earlier, Gautam Gambhir also strongly condemned the incident. Gambhir wrote in the tweet, 'Such violence on university campus is completely against the ethos of this country. No matter what the ideology or bent of mind, students cannot be targeted this way. Strictest punishment has to be meted out to these goons who have dared to enter the University.'
