IRE Vs IND: India's next assignment will be a three-match T20 International series against the Irish Men. The men in blue side will have a new skipper as well for these three games of the shortest format as Hardik Pandya, who is currently captaining his troops in the US for the last two matches, has been rested for this series against Ireland.
After winning the maiden IPL Title in 2022 for the Gujarat Titans side, Hardik Pandya was also bestowed the captaincy of India’s T20I side and he led the Indian team in the last year’s series against Ireland for the first time.
India won that series as Hardik and his men even held their nerve to clinch the last game of the series which was a thriller of a contest.
Now in the upcoming series of the shortest format, the star Indian pace bowler will lead the side. Jasprit Bumrah will be leading a young team of India’s future superstars.
Boom Boom Bumrah will be making an international return after a long injury layoff off and he has been gifted the added pressure of the captaincy as well.
The series against The Irish Men will start from 18th August 2023 and all three T20 International games of this series will be played in Dublin.
But now the news and media reports say that VVS Laxman who was assigned as the coach of the Indian Team for the tour of Ireland in 2023, will not serve the team which will be led by Boom Boom Bumrah.
The former Indian player from Hyderabad, VVS Laxman, is the current head coach of the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Laxman was appointed there after Rahul Dravid took up the coaching stint of the Men’s Indian Cricket team since 2021.
Laxman was also the head coach of Team India when they toured Ireland in 2022 under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy.
With that, VVS also served as the coach of the Indian team in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, the home series against South Africa and the limited overs series tour of New Zealand last year in November 2022.
The reports have even stated that the coaches from the support staff like Shitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule will be there instead because the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will not tour Ireland despite this series also having uttermost importance.
This three-match series of the shortest format will be observed closely for Jasprit Bumrah because he will be returning from a long injury break and his fitness will also be tested.
Prasidh Krishna also makes a return after a long injury period and his fitness will also be monitored in this series as Ireland has a quality team and this young Indian side should not make the mistake of taking them lightly.
