India Vs New Zealand 2022 - Pitch Report

The first T20 International will be played in Wellington and the pitch report says that the wicket is helpful for the batters. But the bowlers will get just little assistance from this track.

India Vs New Zealand 2022 - Weather Report

The weather report of Wellington city in New Zealand says that the first T20 International match between India and New Zealand might be washed out due to the rains.

India Vs New Zealand 2022 - Playing XI of India

Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar,  Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav.

India will take on the Kiwis in the first match of the shortest former series. In 2021, New Zealand, the runner-up of the last T20 World Cup had toured India for three-match T20I series and the men in blue side under Rohit Sharma had whitewashed the Blackcaps side to win the series by a margin of 3-0. But this time, Rohit Sharma and many other seniors players have been rested.

India’s dashing all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been given the chance to lead the men in blue side. After the semis loss against England, India will look to make a core team for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean.

Even the stand-in skipper, Hardik Pandya said that India’s preparation for the next T20 WC would start from this series.

Suryakumar Yadav would be the batter to watch out for from the Indian side. At the SKY Stadium, India’s star batter SKY would look to continue his fantastic run in the shortest format and also make up the low score in the semi-final match against England at the Adelaide Oval. Surya needs to step up as a batting leader with no Virat Kohli in this series.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill would be the openers for the first T20I match. The visitors can also go with Rishabh Pant as the opener.

But Gill and Kishan are experienced openers and they have done well at that position. Pant might have to sit out of the first match because he has failed to perform in the given opportunities.

Hardik as the batter, captain and bowler was amazing in the IPL for Gujarat Titans. But the three matches against New Zealand will pose many difficult challenges for the all-rounder.

To be the next India captain, Pandya should perform in all three departments and also lead the side well as he did for GT.

Arshdeep Singh would be the player to watch out for the men in blue side. Singh was the highest wicket-taker for India in this T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

His spell in the powerplay overs would be crucial for the Indian team as New Zealand too have destructive batters at the top order.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be the senior pro in the side and Harshal Patel would be in after not getting a single game in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Chahal would make it into India’s XI after missing out on a chance in the T20 WC.

India can also play KULCHA (Kuldeep and Chahal). But they need to drop Sundar or Hooda, which won’t be a good idea.

India Vs New Zealand 2022 - Playing XI of New Zealand

Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi and Adam Milne.

New Zealand has been a consistent team in all the ICC mega-events. But this time, they lost a final spot as Pakistan ended their wonderful journey in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Under Williamson, The Kiwis are the best when they play at home and India will not find it easy in the T20I and ODI series.

Finn Allen has been good at the top order and that’s why an experienced campaigner like Martin Guptill is sitting out of the playing XI.

Guptill didn’t get a single chance in the T20 WC because Allen performed so well and Martin has not been included in this series as well. Allen is the player to watch out for in this first T20 International match.

Devon Conway is another player who has a lot of experience playing against Indian bowlers. All thanks to IPL because it made the overseas players get used to the Indian bowlers.

Now the players of New Zealand also know what tricks the Indian bowlers will use against them and that becomes a deciding factor in the ICC Tournaments.

Ish Sodhi might prove handy with his spin and he is the player to watch out for from New Zealand.
