India Vs New Zealand 1st ODI Preview: Weather Report

We hope that the showers stay away, at least from this series. The weather report of Auckland City in New Zealand is good, and the rains will stay away from tomorrow's game.

India Vs New Zealand 1st ODI Preview: Likely Playing XI of India

Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan(c), Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar,  Harshal Patel, Umran Malik, and Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav.

With ODI ICC World Cup 2023 coming up next year, this One-Day International series is essential for both sides.

The last time India played an ODI series in New Zealand, the team under Virat Kohli had suffered a whitewash, 3-0 loss, and the men in blue side had also lost the two-match Test series in the Kiwi nation.

India hasn't won a series of the fifty overs format and Test matches in New Zealand since 2009. MS Dhoni was the last Indian skipper to win the series in New Zealand.

Dhawan has been a good captain for India so far in the ODI format. Gabbar won the ODI series in Sri Lanka and West Indies earlier.

But now, he will face a formidable New Zealand in their backyard. The Kiwis are the toughest opposition to beat when they play at home, and that's why this will be the most challenging series for Shikhar as the Indian captain.

India needs a good start in the ODI series. So India will bank on Gill and Dhawan to start the innings on a good note.

These two openers also played in the ODI series against West Indies before. Suryakumar will bat at the number three position in the absence of Kohli.

SKY has been excellent in the shortest format. With the ODI world cup coming up next year, it is time for SKY to showcase his worth in the fifty-overs format.

Shreyas Iyer has been a good player in the ODI format, and he would be itching to do well after missing out from the T20 WC 2022 and the series of the shortest format.

Hardik Pandya has been rested for this series, so Depak Hooda and Washington Sundar must fire in this series. Hooda and Sundar have done well with the ball.

But in the batting department, they need to be better and consistent. With Hardik rested, Hooda and Sundar must seize their opportunities in this series.

Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Chahar should get a go in the three ODI matches. Deepak Chahar will be making a comeback after the injury. He was out of the home series against South Africa and the T20 World Cup 2022. His comeback will boost the Indian side.

India can also include Umran Malik, the potential fast bowler and the rest Arshdeep Singh. This will also test India's bench strength for that ICC mega event next year.

India Vs New Zealand 1st ODI Preview: Playing XI of New Zealand

Finn Allen, Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson(c), Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Mitch Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee and Matt Henry.

Kane Williamson will be back in the playing XI of New Zealand as the skipper for the three-match ODI series. New Zealand has also named Tom Latham and Matt Henry in their 13-man squad for this home series against the men in blue team. After losing the T20I series, the home side will be eager to do well in the fifty-overs format series.

Latham and Allen will be an excellent opening combination for the Kiwis in the first One-Day International match. Tom Latham is the ODI specialist for the home team, and his inclusion will also give them stability at the top order. Conway, Williamson and Philips will be the batters in the middle order.

The Kiwis also have three all-rounders to follow in the lower order. Neesham, Mitchell and Santner are also power hitters of the cricket ball in the last few overs. The batting lineup of New Zealand looks very powerful, and they are all experienced campaigners of the One-Day International format. Matt Henry and Tim Southee will be good pairs to open the innings with the new ball.

Both the fast bowlers are equally lethal in the backend overs. This series is vital for New Zealand as well because they will have an eye on the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

New Zealand has a good ODI record at home against the visitors, and they hope to continue their winning streak against India.
