England on Tuesday added all-rounder Moeen Ali to the squad ahead of the second Test against India at Lord's starting August 12. According to a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board, Moeen will train with the team from Tuesday. Captain Joe Root and England's top order has been struggling with the bat. In such a situation, head coach Chris Silverwood has indicated to make changes in the team.

England team was all-out for 183 runs in the first innings of the first match of the series. However, in the second innings, the team scored 303 runs. Captain Root played an innings of 109 runs. On Monday, Silverwood told English media that Ali was being considered in the absence of all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes.

Moeen Ali in excellent form in white-ball cricket:

The 34-year-old off-spinner has been in excellent form in white ball cricket. He scored a 23-ball fifty for Birmingham Phoenix on Monday night. The team is at the top of the table under his captaincy. He last played a Test in February against India, but has not played Test cricket since returning to England due to the team's workload management policy. His last Test at home was the first match of the 2019 Ashes.

Let us tell you that rain took away India's chance to take a lead in the five-Test series. On the fifth and final day of the first Test in Nottingham, due to rain, not a single ball could be bowled throughout the day. In view of the situation, the umpires declared the match to be called a draw at 3:49 pm local time. The second Test match between the two teams will be played at Lord's from August 12.

Meanwhile, India took a 95-run lead after scoring 278 runs after England's first innings was bundled for 183 in the first Test. By the end of the fourth day's play, India had scored 52 runs for one wicket. They needed just 157 runs to win on the final day with nine wickets remaining.
