IND vs ENG: Saqib Mahmood Added to England Squad as Cover for Dom Bess
Lancashire fast bowler Saqib Mahmood has been included in the England squad as cover for the second Test against India starting from August 12. Saqib has been included in as cover after veteran pacer Stuart Broad suffered a right leg injury during a practice session at Lord's on Tuesday.
24-year-old of Pakistani origin player has played 16 matches for England in the limited overs format. This includes 7 ODIs and 9 T20Is. In this, he has taken a total of 21 wickets. He took 65 wickets in 22 first-class matches.
Bess struggles to get a place in Test team:
On the other hand, the off-spinner Dom Bess continues to struggle to get an opportunity in the Test team. He has been sidelined from the team once again. Bess was dropped from the playing XI after the first Test against India in Chennai in February and was replaced by Moeen Ali. He has not played a Test since then.
Bess was recently included in the squad for the first two Tests against India. But did not get a chance in the first match that ended on Sunday. Now, off-spinner Moeen Ali has been included in the team. On the last day of the first test match between India and England, not a single ball was bowled due to rain and the match ended in a draw. The team led by Virat Kohli needed 157 runs to win on the final day with nine wickets in hand, but the match ended in a draw due to rain.
