Indian opener KL Rahul played a brilliant innings in the second match of the five-match series being played against England. Rahul, who missed a century in Nottingham, made a place in the list of Indian legends with a century at Lord's. Earlier, only two Indian openers had scored a century on this ground. Rahul became India's third opener to score a century on this ground.

On the other hand, Rahul also joined Virender Sehwag at the 2nd spot on the list of Indian openers with most hundreds outside Asia. Rahul has a total of 5 overseas hundreds in 24 matches. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag had managed 4 Test hundreds outside Asia in 69 innings. While, batting great Sunil Gavaskar is on top of the list of India openers with most Test hundreds outside Asia.

In the Lord's Test, England captain Joe Root won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave a strong start to the team by sharing 126 runs partnership while batting brilliantly. Rahul played remained unbeaten on 127 runs on the first day of the second test match against England. While Rohit returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 83 runs. While Captain Virat Kohli scored 42 runs, Cheteshwar Pujara could only score 9 runs.

KL Rahul scored a century:

Rahul, who missed a century in the first Test against England, kept his patience here and completed the century. Rahul, who completed fifty runs in 137 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six, completed his century on the 212th ball.

Third Indian opener to score a century at Lord's:

Rahul became the 10th batsman overall to score a century at Lord's for India. Vinoo Mankad first scored a century on this ground in 1952. He became the first Indian batsman to do so. He was also the first Indian to do so as an opener. After this, the current Indian coach Ravi Shastri scored a century in 1990. Rahul is only the third Indian opener to be included in this list. Meenu Mankad, Dilip Vengsarkar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, Ajit Agarkar, Rahul Dravid, Ajinkya Rahane have all scored centuries at Lord's.
