The men in the blue side batted just once in that match and drove the Aussies out of the contest with a dominant performance. Australia had no answers and the number one Test side gave a complete flop show.
India bowled first and bundled the number one ranked team for just 177 runs in their 1st innings of the 1st Test. The home side also continued to dominate the match proceedings with the bat as well.
They piled up 400 runs in their 1st innings and gained a lead of mammoth 223 runs. That score was too much for the Aussies as they were bundled out for just 91 runs in their 2nd innings which gave India a massive win of an innings and 132 runs.
Before the second Test match starts in Delhi, let us see the top performers of the first Test match in Nagpur.
The news and the media reports also say that the third Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy will be moved out of Dharamshala.
That match would be played at Holkar Stadium in Indore. The second Test in Delhi will be played from Friday 17th February 2023 to Tuesday 21st February 2023.
The skipper had laid the foundation for this mammoth win. He played a wonderful knock of 120 runs and allowed the men in the blue side to take complete control of the Test match.
HITMAN also shared two vital partnerships with KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin to set the tone of the Indian innings.
The number one Test all-rounder showed his class in his comeback match. Jaddu took a five-wicket haul in the first innings and also contributed 70 runs in the Nagpur Test match.
He also held the innings together when Rohit and the Test debutant KS Bharat got out. Then Jadeja snitched a vital stand with Axar Patel and helped India to decimate the number one ranked Test side.
Patel couldn’t get any wickets in the 1st innings when the Aussies were bundled out for just 177 runs.
But his contribution with the bat was huge and it was because of him that India got a mammoth lead of 223 runs.
Axar scored fine 84 runs and he was involved in two match-turning partnerships as well.
The number two all-rounder in the current Test rankings also helped India to dismantle the Aussies in the first Test match.
Ravichandran Ashwin has promoted up the batting order in the lone innings in which India batted. He shared a vital stand with skipper Sharma.
Ash also picked up three wickets in the first innings and a five-wicket haul in the second that helped India to win the first match and take the series lead as well.
The Australians had a disastrous Test match in Nagpur. Their bowlers and batters had no clue how to stop Team India. But still, there is one big positive that they can build up for the second Test match in Delhi.
Todd Murphy is the only player from the Aussie country to be included in this list. He picked up a seven-wicket haul on his Test debut which is a great achievement.
The Aussies will hope that Murphy will continue to be lethal on these spin-heavy pitches in India.
