I Can Qualify For The 2020 Tokyo Olympics: Jinson Johnson

Asian Games champion Jinson Johnson, India's chief center separation sprinter, says he is particularly fit for meeting all requirements for the 1500 meters event at the Tokyo Olympics.

"The capability imprint is set at 3:35 for Tokyo yet the gold at Rio came in 3:50. The IAAF has made capabilities harder. By the by, for quite a long while I have been doing things which were not done by my compatriots. I can springing surprises," he told PTI in a meeting in Bengaluru.

The ace runner was in the city for the unveiling of the 12th edition of TCS World 10K 'Finisher's Tee'.

Johnson's own best time is 3:37.86, which he set at Gold Coast CWG, a year ago.

Johnson said he comprehends the prerequisites of IAAF to have just 40-45 members to make the event exceedingly aggressive and that is the reason the capability parameters for the World Championships and the Olympics are intense.

The Kerala competitor figured out how to meet all requirements for the Asian Championships in 1500m regardless of a niggling calf damage and a worse than average show at Federation Cup, which was his first challenge this season.

Johnson needed to haul out of Doha Asian Athletics Championships because of calf damage while contending in the 800m there, which constrained him to avoid the 1500m event.

"These are good and bad times of the games. I have dependably performed well in global rivalries. In spite of the fact that I didn't get any medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, I got the national record in 1500m," he said.

Johnson had completed fifth at 2018 CWG with the planning of 3:37.86 to break past Bahadur Prasad's 23-year-old imprint.

After two months, he broke Sriram Singh's 42-year-old record in 800m.

The IAAF Gold Label Race will be hailed off from Sree Kanteerava Stadium on May 19
