Bishan Singh Bedi Hits Out at Shubman Gill for Disrespecting Umpire

India's legendary spinner Bishan Singh Bedi has expressed his anger on Punjab team opener Shubman Gill. The reason for Bedi's anger was Shubman Gill's ill treatment towards umpire in the Ranji Trophy match being played in Mohali. Gill was given out by the umpire in the match against Delhi but the young batsman was not happy with this and abused the on-field umpire. The umpire then changed his decision. The Delhi team resented this and Gill had to return to the pavilion.

Bedi tweeted on this, "Such a dictatorial attitude by any player is not forgiven – even if he is the captain of India A". He said, "No matter how talented the player is, No player is greater than the game. Examples need to be presented. A better man should be given the captaincy of India-A. "Gill has been appointed captain of the India-A team for New Zealand Tour, where team will play a series of two tour matches and three ODIs.

This matter happened during the Ranji Trophy match played at IS Bindra Stadium between Punjab and Delhi team. Punjab won the toss and decided to bat first. Sanvir Singh and Shubman Gill took the opening batting front. But when Shubhman was given Out by the on-field Umpire, Shubman refused to go off the field and abused Mohammed Rafi, the debutant umpire, under pressure the on-field  umpire spoke to the leg umpire and overturned the decision.
