BCCI Announces Schedule for 2021-22 Domestic Season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 domestic season. However, the BCCI has decided not to organize three major tournaments in the 2021 season this time. Meanwhile, the domestic season will begin with the Women's One Day League, beginning September 21 this year. India's domestic Twenty20 league — Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy — will start from October 20 with the final to take place on November 12. At the same time, BCCI in its media statement also said the Ranji Trophy will take place in a three-month window from November 2021 to February 2022.

According to the official media release issued by the BCCI, apart from the Irani Cup, Deodhar Trophy and Duleep Trophy will not take place in the 2021-22 season. Meanwhile, the statement read, "The coveted Ranji Trophy, which was cancelled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be played in a three-month window from November 16, 2021 to February 19, 2022. The Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place from February 23, 2022 to March 26, 2022. The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount."

Schedule of Domestic season:

According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the current season will start with the Senior Women's ODI League from September 21 (2021). This will be followed by the Senior Women's One Day Challenger Trophy from 27 October 2021. The final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will take place on 12 November 2021. The Ranji Trophy will take place from 16 November 2021 to 19 February 2022. The Vijay Hazare Trophy will begin on February 23 and the final will take place on March 26.
