ICC and BCCI also wished Rahane on his birthday. BCCI wrote – Happy Birthday to Rahane, who took 7920 runs in 183 international matches and the most Test catches. While on foreign pitches, Rahane has scored 2978 runs in 75 innings at an average of 44.45. Interestingly, Rahane has scored 8 out of 12 centuries in his Test career on foreign soil. Rahane plays more smoothly on pitches with bounce and swing.

At one point Rahane was also called the successor of the great batsman Rahul Dravid, but in the last few years, Rahane's performance declined significantly. Rahane has scored only 4 centuries in the last 41 Tests. However, his performance under the captaincy has been excellent. Rahane has captained in 5 Test matches so far. Out of this, India won in 4. While one match ended in a draw. In the same year, under Rahane's captaincy, India defeated Australia 2-1 at his home.
