IND Vs AUS 2nd Test Match: Team India has retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy in the national capital yesterday i.e. Feb 19.
Rohit and Co gave yet another amazing performance in the second Test match which was played at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Even though the top and middle order batters didn’t fire much in the second Test match. But still, the home side won the second Test match by six wickets because of the spin twins.
Australia batted first and they scored 263 runs. The visitors reached that score mainly because of Usman Khawaja and the contributions from the lower order.
In response, India had a decent start to their innings. However, they failed to convert that start. India got to 262 runs in their 1st innings mainly because of Axar and Ashwin’s partnership.
The Indian bowlers too did a wonderful job as Australia’s ploy to play the sweep shots didn’t work well for them.
The visitors were bundled out for just 113 runs in their second innings and they could only set a target of just 115 runs for the home side.
India also lost quick wickets in that run chase. But Cheteshwar Pujara who played his 100th Test match for the country guided the team through in the run chase.
The third Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 will be played in Indore from Wednesday 1st March 2023 to Sunday 5th March 2023 at Holkar Stadium.
Before this Test match between IND Vs AUS starts, let us look at the top five best performers of the second Test match which was played in New Delhi.
The spin-bowling all-rounder couldn’t pick up any wickets in the second test match. But his contribution with the bat in the 1st innings was huge.
After his wonderful knock of 84 runs in the first test match at Nagpur, Axar continued his brilliance in the second Test match at New Delhi.
He scored vital 74 runs at the crucial time and also snitched a partnership of 114 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin, which allowed India to make a comeback in the match.
Another spin-bowling all-rounder was brilliant in the second Test match. Ravindra Jadeja spins a web in the second innings of the second Test match.
The Aussies were never in the game whenever Jaddu bowled in the second innings. Jadeja picked up a seven-wicket haul and helped India to bounce back in style.
Jaddu also earned the player of the match award for the second consecutive time in this series.
The Aussie opener was the only one who looked settled on that pitch of New Delhi. He played well in the 1st innings and allowed Australia to dominate a bit.
Khawaja also shared an opening partnership of 50 runs with David Warner and he also played well against the spin trio of Team India. His 81-run knock was the best from the Australians in this series so far.
Nathan Lyon roared in the national capital city of India. In the 1st innings, Nathan picked up a five-wicket haul. He also looked good in the second innings as well.
But Australia didn’t score enough runs and that is why Nathan Lyon didn’t make much of an impact.
As a senior spin bowler of the Aussie team, Lyon is expected to deliver more performances in the remaining two red ball matches of the BGT 2023 series.
This list ends with another spin bowling all-rounder from the men in blue side, Ravichandran Ashwin. He is also the second-ranked all-rounder in the Test rankings of the ICC.
Ash did a wonderful job in this series so far. With the bat, he held the 1st innings with Axar Patel and shared a partnership of 114 runs for the eight wicket.
He even picked up 3 wickets in each inning of the second test match in New Delhi.
