ODI World Cup 2023: India has been on a roll in this ODI World Cup 2023. The hosts of this fifty overs tournament have won five in five matches played in the one day international format.
Rohit Sharma and his men also defeated New Zealand after a long gap of 20 years in an ICC event.
Now the men in blue side will be in action against the ODI World Cup 2023 defending champions, England on Sunday in Lucknow.
Then they will also face South Africa, Sri Lanka and their last match of this one-day international format competition is versus the Netherlands at Bengaluru.
The Indian skipper didn’t get off the mark in the first match against the Aussies in Chennai and because of that India was tottering at the score of two runs with the loss of three wickets.
But HITMAN looked in awesome touch against Afghanistan and he also became the first Indian batter to slam a ton in this ODI World Cup 2023.
The skipper scored 131 runs in that match-winning encounter and from that game onwards, Sharma has been successfully guiding the men in blue side to 5 wins due to his aggressive approach at the top order.
Against Pakistan, Rohit had slammed 86 runs, versus New Zealand 46 runs and against Bangladesh 48 runs. So far Hit Man has scored the second most runs in this ODI World Cup 2023. In five games, Rohit has 311 runs to his name.
The veteran pace bowler was not given any chances in the first four matches of this ODI World Cup 2023. Shami has been a main stray of this Indian team in this ongoing ICC mega event of the fifty-overs format.
But the team management decided to go with Shardul Thakur because Lord Thakur gives an additional depth in the batting.
However, Shami got a chance in the game against New Zealand which was played on Sunday in Dharamshala. He replaced Shardul in that game and straight away the premiere pace bowler, Shami made an impact in that game.
He is the first Indian bowler to pick up a five wicket haul in this ODI World Cup 2023. His match figures were 5 wickets for 54 runs and he also won the player of the match award in his comeback match.
The former Indian skipper also had a decent 2019 ODI World Cup. But he did not score any centuries in that tournament.
Now King Kohli has scored the highest runs for the men in the blue side in this ODI World Cup 2023. Virat has scored 354 runs in just five games played till now.
He has also slammed one century which came against Bangladesh, where he scored an unbeaten 103 runs. His 85-run knock against the Aussies allowed India to win that game. He also scored half century against Afghanistan.
But he missed a well-deserved hundred against the Kiwis. He was caught on 95 runs. If Kohli had scored those five runs then he would have equaled the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 49 ODI centuries while Virat has 48 tons to his name.
