On the third day of the 13th South Asian Games on Wednesday, India won 29 medals and topped the medal table on the third day of the 13th South Asian Games. India won 15 gold medals on Wednesday, of which five were in athletics. India now has a total of 71 medals including 32 gold, 26 silver and 13 bronze. Nepal is in second place with 69 medals including 29 gold, 15 silver and 25 bronze. In athletics, India won 10 medals (five gold, three silver and two bronze) while six won in table tennis and taekwondo, five triathlon and two in kho-kho.

Indians dominated the first day of the athletics event. Archana Susindran won the gold medal in the women's 200m race. At the same time, A. Chandralekha of India was third. Suresh Kumar won the gold medal in the men's 10000 meters category. At the same time, Lokesh Satyanathan and Swaminathan finished first in the long jump. In men's discus throw, Kripal Singh and Gagandeep Singh secured the first two spots. In women's discus throw, Navjeet Kaur Dhillon won gold medal for India while Survi Vishwas got the silver medal. Sandra Babu got a bronze medal in the long jump.

The Indian men's and women's Kho-Kho teams, which won the gold medal in the year 2016, beat the Bangladesh and Nepal respectively and won the gold medal in their bag. When India won the gold in both categories, Bangladesh had to be content with the silver medal in the men's event while Nepal finished third. Nepal finished second in the women's section while Bangladesh finished their campaign with a bronze medal.

India dominated the Taekwondo event and won some six medals, including three gold. Latika Bhandari (under 53 kg), Jarnail Singh (under 74 kg) and Rudali Barua (over 73 kg) won gold medals in the events. Sourav and Gangjot won silver medals in men's under 63 kg and women's 62 kg while Chaitanya Inamdar won bronze in men's over 86 kg category.

At the same time, India won gold and silver medals in the men's and women's doubles events of the table tennis competition. In the men's doubles final, Harmeet Desai and Anthony Amalraj defeated compatriots Sanil Shetty and Sudhanshu Grover 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-5, 8-11, 12-10. Santu Shrestha and Vinesh Khania of Nepal won bronze. In the women's doubles final, Madhurika Patkar and Sreeja Akula defeated Sutrita Mukherjee and Ayahika Mukherjee 2–11, 11–8, 11–8, 11–6, 5–11, 11–5. Visakha Madhurangi and Hansini Pulima of Sri Lanka won bronze medals. In mixed doubles, Harmati and Sutrita Mukherjee defeated Amalraj and Ayahika 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 to win the gold medal.
