Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, 'Congress President Sonia Gandhi has raised a legitimate demand for reservation of OBC class students in medical institutions of state and union territories under national quota in seats being filled by NEET. This is a demand for social justice. It is hoped that the Central Government will implement this.'
Prior to Priyanka, Rahul Gandhi had supported Sonia Gandhi's demand to increase the reservation for OBC students in the All India Kota in the medical and dental institutions of the states.

I strongly support the Congress President's demand to extend reservation for OBC students in the All India quota in medical and dental seats of medical institutions of the state and union territories." Earlier, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi By writing a letter, and demanded the arrangement of reservation for OBC students in the medical institutions of the states.
Sonia Gandhi wrote in her letter, 'On the issue of denial of reservation to OBC students under All India quota in seats being filled through National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) in medical educational institutions of the state and union territories. I want to grab your attention.'
The Congress President said that 15% Scheduled Castes, 7.5% Scheduled Tribes and 10% Reservation are reserved for Economically Weaker People (EWS) under the All India Quota in the Medical Education Institutions of the Central, State and Union Territories. However, the system of all-India quota for OBC students is restricted in central institutions.
In a letter to PM Narendra Modi, Sonia said, "Not giving reservation to OBC students in the state's medical institutions under the All India quota is a violation of the Indian government order and the 93rd constitutional amendment." Also, it is like preventing qualified OBC students from pursuing medical studies. In view of equality and social justice, I request the Central Government to increase reservation in medical and dental seats in the Central and Union Territories medical educational institutions under the All India quota for OBC students.
