Sikkim: Not a Single Positive Case has Come up in the State

Cases of Coronavirus are increasing day by day in the whole world. On the other hand, this mountainous state of North-East has made no entry in itself by doing a tremendous juggling of administration and discipline.  Sikkim is a state where not a single case of corona has been reported till April 19.  This is the situation in Nagaland.  There were over 70 suspected cases in Sikkim, but all came out negative in the investigation.

The border of Sikkim is adjacent to China, from where this dangerous virus spread all over the world, despite this state did not allow the corona virus to enter its territory.  The reason for this extraordinary success is the promptness of the local administration and strict discipline of the people of Sikkim.  State Chief Minister Prem Singh Gole said that large-scale steps were taken due to wide border sharing with China, which led to unexpected results. The administration took the first step in the country.  On 27 January, screening was made compulsory at all admission centers in the state.

Baichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian football team and resident of Sikkim, said – If you look at the history of Sikkim, you will find that the people  are highly disciplined and completely follow the law whatever guidelines were issued regarding Corona, the people of Sikkim followed them with great responsibility.  All the hotels that were vacated in two days, Amit Singh, manager of Hotel The Dejong, located on MG Marg, the most prominent site of Gangtok, said – On March 14 from the administration, we were asked to vacate the hotel within two days.  We checked all the guests staying with us till 15 March and completely closed the hotel from 16-17 March.  Despite the huge losses, all those involved in the hotel business are fully following the government guidelines.

The details of the recent foreign trip were immediately sent to the Government Quarantine Center.  Less feared people were encouraged to stay isolated at home.  Samples of suspects were immediately investigated.  Raghav Kshetri, who is spreading awareness on social media about Corona, said – It is a very good thing for us to not have a single case of covid-19 in the state, but there is no time to celebrate.  We need to be more vigilant.  It is important to remove some flaws immediately.  There is not a single Corona Testing Lab in Sikkim.  Samples are sent to the North Bengal Medical College Hospital,  labs should be arranged as soon as possible.
