Nirbhaya's mother has reacted sharply to senior counsel Indira Jaising's suggestion of pardoning her decision of hanging the culprits. She said, 'Who is Indira Jaisingh to give me this suggestion? The whole country wants to hang the culprits. It is due to people like her that justice cannot be done with rape victims. She said that I will never apologize to the poor. Even if God also come and say the same thing even then I will not forgive the poor. On Friday, senior advocate of the Supreme Court, Indira Jaisingh, while giving the example of Sonia Gandhi, said that as she had forgiven the killers of her husband Rajiv Gandhi, so should Nirbhaya's mother too forgive the culprits.
Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi was enraged at this and remarked sharply at Indira Jaisingh, "Can't believe how Indira Jaisingh can dare to give me such a suggestion." Over the years, i had met her many times in the Supreme Court. She was least concerned about us and now she is speaking for the culprits. Asha Devi said that such people earn their livelihood by supporting rapists. Due to this, the incidents of rape are not stopping.
On December 16, 2012, Nirbhaya was brutally murdered after a gang rape. In this case, the Supreme Court has sentenced 4 convicts to death. Now the death warrant has been issued by the Patiala House Court of Delhi to be hanged on 1 February.
