Sheila Dikshit Held a Meeting with Three Working Presidents on Friday

The newly-appointed Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit Friday met with the three working presidents and took stock of the party affairs in the national capital.

According to party sources, Dikshit will officially take charge from January 16.

She was appointed as the Delhi party unit head by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday. Devender Yadav, Rajesh Lilothia and Haroon Yusuf were appointed as working presidents to assist the former Delhi chief minister.

On the other hand, Mehandi Majid, chief media in charge of the state Congress, expressed gratitude towards the party high command Rahul Gandhi for the newly appointed leadership team of the state. He said that the combination of experience and youth power will facilitate the new passion in the party in Delhi. Following the appointment, Sheila Dikshit said that my health is absolutely fine. I will not say anything on the question of age. You and the BJP are not my parties. Therefore, I do not have any message for them either. It will definitely say that the Congress will stand now.

There is a discussion of the alliance with you, it has not happened. When it's done, then ask questions. At the same time, Devendra Yadav said that there is a mix of experience and youth power in the new team of the state Congress. This mixture is ready to work with full force. We all will work as a team led by Sheila ji. I believe that there will be tremendous things in the Congress in the coming days. According to Rajesh Lothian, we have mutual understanding and reconciliation between us. I am confident that we will strengthen the party and also win the Lok Sabha elections 2019 and the Assembly elections 2020, then Aaron Yusuf says the party will be much stronger now. There will be no excuse for winning public confidence.

"The meeting focused on setting priorities and fixing responsibilities of office-bearers in view of the approaching Lok Sabha elections. The ways to strengthen the party unit were also discussed in the meeting," the party leaders said.

The new team headed by Dikshit is yet to decide on the possibility of an alliance with the AAP.

Dikshit had after her appointment on Thursday told reporters that she would react on the issue (of the alliance) after understanding the situation from top to down.

Meanwhile, sources said most of the party leaders believe Congress is "prepared" to challenge the BJP on its own in the upcoming general elections.

A final decision on Congress' alliance with other parties will be taken by the committee headed by A K Antony, they added
