PUNE: The crime branch busted a sex racket, running under the guise of a massage parlour, in Viman Nagar and rescued four women. Two persons were arrested in this connection.
The Social Security Cell of the Pune City Police Crime Branch busted a prostitution trafficking racket operating from a massage parlour in Viman Nagar and rescued three foreign nationals from the spot.
Two men, identified as Amar Ramrao Dhumal (27) of Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa and Tushar Ashok Bansode (28) of Wadgaon Sheri, have been arrested.
A team of social security cell of the crime branch, led by inspector Manisha Zende, raided the massage parlour on a tip-off received by police constables Naresh Balsane and Dnyaneshwar Devkar. The women were sent to a rescue home in the city.
The suspects, including the parlour manager, were arrested under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and the Indian Penal Code.
Acting on a tip-off to Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhanupratap Barge, a Crime Branch team led by Senior Police Inspector Manisha Zende, Assistant Inspectors Anita Khedkar and Ashvini Jagtap laid a trap and raided a massage parlour in Viman Nagar area in the evening.
Zende said after getting information about the sex racket, a decoy customer was sent there. "After getting confirmation from him, we raided the parlour," Zende said, adding, "We have recovered Rs6, 500 from the spot," Zende said.
The probe revealed the duo had appointed the women as therapists and forced them into prostitution.
