Sawan Pratipada was included in Ashadh Purnima

On reaching Kankhal as soon as Shravan Pratipada was included in Ashadh Purnima, Purnima welcomed Lord Shankar. Today is Sunday, the first day of the month of Shravan. Lord Ashutosh arrived in Uttarashada Nakshatra and Pratipada will be completed in Shravan Nakshatra.

According to Pandit Amit Shastri, a member of Ganga Sabha, Vidya Parishad, this time due to the decay of the second date, Monday will fall on the third date. There will be a special Jalabhishek every Monday in the pagodas. Maharatri will be celebrated in the temples of Lord Shiva on the union of Shivaratri and Shiva Chaudas. Lord Shiva is the god of reverence. He will continue to be anointed with the Ganges coming out of his hair throughout the month of Sawan.

The marriage of Sati and Shiva

Daksha's daughter Sati and Shiva were married against Daksha's wishes. Later Daksha performed a huge Yagya at Yagyajitpur near Kankhal but did not call daughter Sati and Jamata Shiva. Sati insisted and left uninvited. Seeing the humiliation of her husband in the Sati Yagya, drinking the fire of humiliation, she was consumed in the Yagyakund. On finding out, Shiva sent Virbhadra and destroyed the Yagya. Virabhadra beheaded Daksha. Later, at the request of the gods, Shiva came and attached the goat's head to the severed torso of Daksha.

After getting resurrected, Daksha took a promise from Shiva that in every Shravan month he would become Daksheshwar and sit in Kankhal. Lord Shiva comes to his in-laws' house Kankhal in the pre-Shravan time to fulfill the same promise. According to Shiva Purana, Lord Vishnu operates the universe from Kankhal for a month at the time of Lord Vishnu's sleep. Jalabhishek will start on Sunday. Due to Corona, the Kanwar Yatra was canceled this year as well, but Jalabhishek will continue at the local level in all the pagodas of the country.
