On Thursday, Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal came out with a spectacular performance. Saina has made it to the quarterfinals of Malaysia Masters. In the pre-quarterfinals, Saina defeated South Korea's An Se-Young 25–23, 21–12 to advance to the quarter-finals. Saina Nehwal, who won a bronze at the London Olympics, has made it to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Masters. She knocked An Se-Young out of the tournament in just 39 minutes. The experienced Saina defeated the 17-year-old young in two successive sets. The Indian star won the match 25–23, 21–12.

Earlier, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy entered the second round of the Malaysia Masters badminton tournament defeating world number 10 Kenta Tsuneyama along with women's stars PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal. World number 26 Prannoy defeated Sunayama 21-9, 21-17 in just 34 minutes of the first round. Now Prannoy will face world number one player Kento Momota of Japan who is in excellent form in the second round on Thursday. Momoto beat another Indian Parupalli Kashyap 21-17 21-16 in 43 minutes.

However, World Championship bronze medalists B Sai Praneeth and Kidambi Srikanth were knocked out of the men's singles. Praneeth lost 11-21, 15-21 to Rasmus Gameke of Denmark in the first round. Srikanth, however, suffered a 17-21, 5-21 defeat against second seeded Chinese Taipei's Chow Tien Chen in just 30 minutes.
