Sports Authority of India (SAI) has decided to reduce the food costing and power supplements of sportspersons. Only 9 months lefts for Tokyo Olympics 2020. Due to the lack of money, the supplements supply has been stopped for the well-known sportspersons of the country who are preparing in various SAI centers. Coaches and players have started pleading for supply from the center’s in-charge. So far in the power games, food and power supplements are given to the players at the rate of Rs 1440 (690 + 750) per day, which has been reduced to just Rs 375 per day. The closure of the supplements profiled the fear of players getting caught in the dope before Olympics.
In addition to power sports such as athletics, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, food and power supplements are provided by SAI during the national camp. The new order issued by SAI states that Rs 375 per day has been earmarked for unlimited high-level food and supplements and 1 lakh 20 thousand rupees per 320 days a year. Earlier, food and supplements were given at Rs 690 per day for food and Rs 750 for power supplements to players above 70 kg and Rs 430 per day for players below 70 kg. Players have started eating outside supplements as the supplement is discontinued.
Sources reveal that outside supplements have also been found in the investigation of the players room on behalf of the coach. All this has happened since the supplement was discontinued. A coach says that there are plenty of opportunities to get caught up in doping by eating outside supplements. The Sports Ministry and SAI argue that 690 rupees is too much to eat.
